It is my pleasure to bring you the Nana Spring line of versatile, timeless dresses and separates for my favorite modern, urban women... YOU! Our photo shoot was a blast -- from working with photographer Isa Salazar to seeing Nana's own Daisy McClellan be the model we love to seeing these samples on which we've dreamed up come to life in the photos.

While Allison & I and our Bits of Thread team are producing the pieces for their Spring delivery dates, I wanted to give you a chance to grab your favorite looks BEFORE their shop arrival as last season's pieces sold out quickly.

	Enjoy!
	XO Jackie

p.s. Nervous about ordering far in advance? Not need to be, you can always exchange sizes or colors when they arrive!

Our Urban Ease Jacket paired with the Hotcakes Dress (Yep, we named it hotcakes.)

My favorite look from our shoot. I already know I'm wearing the All Occasion Dress to a Summer Wedding in Vermont. With Lanyapi's Pendant Necklace (seriously, she's a model & a jewelry designer!).

Reversible Top in Black Silk Charmeuse tucked into our Pleat Front Skirt (now with pockets!) and Versatile Obi Belt. This was our photographer's favorite outfit.

That's just a few of our Spring line looks. Looks like I'll need a few more blog posts to cover the rest of the line. Stay tuned ...

- Rachel Simon, Digital Marketing, Nana

We’re so excited for the debut of Nana’s first full collection, which is right around
the corner: garments are arriving the first week of March, and online pre-sale starts on
February 14th! As this long-time dream comes to fruition, I sat down with the line’s
designer, Nana owner Jackie Flanagan, to learn more about what inspires her.

The Nana Spring collection was created in search of “perfect urban ease” – the timeless,
versatile styles that pieces that all of us overscheduled modern ladies – professionals,
moms, singles, or whatever combination of those – can reach for again and again. The
collection reflects Jackie’s own simple, eclectic, practical elegance – confident, chic,
and vintage-inspired in neutral colors, subtle patterns, and shapes that mix-and-match
effortlessly. Furthermore, the collection lives up to Nana’s ideals: hand-crafted in DC
of natural, mostly organic fabrics, these garments exemplify the “mindfully made” Nana credo.

Jackie’s favorite picks from the collection are done in a beautiful organic silk-hemp blend
charmeuse. A reversible tank top provides options upon options: with the neck high on
one side and lower on the other, the top offers the perfect demure layering shell or a slight
scoop in the front or back. A gorgeous sage green cocktail dress in the same material
features feminine petal sleeves and a sweet keyhole at the back neckline, while also
accentuating the waist with a self-fabric sash. This dress has work to cocktail polish in
	the bag, effortlessly!

Here, Jackie’s Mood Board for her Spring collection – filled with, “…stuff that inspires
me, stuff that grounds me, things that remind me of the lost creativity in everyday…”

	a. Woodblock print – a Christmas card from artist friend Tom Bunnell
	b. Vintage vacation photos – “These feel like a rescued vacation,” says Jackie, who
loves the architecture and the put-together vacation ensembles pictured.
	c. Adorable kid art! – drawing by Jackie’s daughter
	d. Organic silk-hemp charmeuse in sage green
	e. Fab Lanyapi Designs and vintage jewelry accessories for the photo shoot
	f. Quirky polka-dot lobster postcard – “It reminds me of Boston, where my Mom lives and I was born.”

Meet Jenny of 8th Street Soap Kitchen. Her soaps are handcrafted with quality natural ingredients and made from scratch in small batches right here in DC.

Jenny uses the cold-process technique. In a nutshell, it means she makes soap from scratch (as opposed to buying premade soap and melting it down), which takes a few weeks to cure. The "cold" refers to the fact the combination of fatty acids (oils) and alkali kicks off a chemical reaction that generates its own heat. The result is divine smelling soap of all varieties. We can't wait to see what scents she brings in this Saturday at our Handmade Valentine Mart.

Nana’s first full collection debuts in just a few weeks, and I’m the lucky gal who got the
inside scoop at the photo shoot to share with all of our lovely readers!

The shoot featured our own multi-talented store manager/vintage inspired jewelry designer, Daisy,
modeling the new Spring collection in Nana owner/designer Jackie’s casual chic home.

Jackie describes the collection as “urban ease” – timeless, versatile pieces for stylish
ladies on-the-go. The collection features a muted palette in natural fibers in flattering,
wearable, retro-inspired silhouettes. Simple yet polished dresses can be accessorized into
infinite looks, and separates mix and match seamlessly, both within the collection with
	your existing wardrobe.

Suffice it to say: these pieces are the foundation of a stylish, modern wardrobe, yet still
manage to be comfortable and functional. These are the “throw-on-and-go” wardrobe
staples that you can count on to be chic yet practical for years to come!

Check in later this week for more on the Nana Spring collection in our blog, and stay
tuned February 14th-16th for Nana’s Spring Collection Preview where you can pre-order
the full collection right here at nanadc.com.

Having previously spent over a decade as a vintage clothing store owner (Meeps, Washington, DC), she has long been interested in repurposing cast-off clothing and fabrics.

Also a mom to two quirky young girls, she is immersed in creating things that bring smiles to all the wonderful parents and children around her. Whether drafting patterns or sourcing material, her work is inspired by the people in her life that make her happy.
Meet Beth of Tigerflight. She creates animals out of recycled and upcycled materials creating unusual color combinations. Each animal is made from recycled sweaters and upholstery remnants, mostly without patterns. Because each animal is unique and she gives it a name when it is finished.

The names come from a slew of different places. Sometimes they remind her of someone and sometimes, she just finds great, old-fashioned names. She enjoys watching the personalities of each creature develop with the detailed embroidery each animal receives.
